Tobogganing: Geisenberger also wins in Altenberg – German three-time success
Olympic luge champion Natalie Geisenberger has successfully fought off her long-time rival Tatjana Huefner’s attack and underpinned her exceptional position in the Olympic Winter. The Miesbach woman from Miesbach celebrated her third victory in the fourth race of the season at the home World Cup in Altenberg:”If you want to win, you have to risk everything,”Geisenberger said after her track record in the second run on ZDF.
World champion Hüfner (Blankenburg) and Dajana Eitberger (Ilmenau) also made it onto the podium and completed an excellent German result with sixth-placed Julia Taubitz (Annaberg-Buchholz).
Geisenberger was the first three-time triumph of the season for the German Bobsleigh and Sled Federation (BSD). Already on Saturday, Olympic champion Felix Loch (Berchtesgaden) presented himself again in top form at his second victory of the season.
Among the two-seaters, world champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken underscored their exceptional position. Like Geisenberger, the duo from Ilsenburg and Suhl won for the third time this winter and extended their lead in the overall World Cup.
The weekend in Altenberg ends with the relay races (13.10 o’ clock).
