Ski jumping: Schlierenzauer makes a comeback

Gregor Schlierenzauer feels ready for his comeback in the Ski Jumping World Cup after a sideband injury. The 27-year-old was nominated by ÖSV-Cheftrainer Heinz Kuttin in the seven-man line-up for the fourth station of the Olympic Winter in Titisee-Neustadt (Germany) on the weekend,”I am really curious about what to expect,”said Schlierenzauer on Tuesday.

Schlierenzauer no longer has any complaints (“It’s all tip top”) after the injury suffered in the right knee during gliding training in Ramsau at the beginning of November. Together with the Stamser group of trainers Christoph Strickner and Harald Rodlauer, who was seconded to him by the ÖSV-Cotrainer Harald Rodlauer, he made his first snow leaps in Lillehammer.

“I did a great job in four units, the jumps have become better and better, it was extremely good for me,”explained Schlierenzauer. The anticipation of being back in the World Cup is very great.

The last summer competitions were very good, but after the injury there is still a gap in training and jumps,”the Stubaier emphasized.” And the others are on a high level.”

After the weekend I will see where I stand,”said Schlierenzauer. He replaces Markus Schiffner from Upper Austria in the ÖSV squad, who has not been able to meet his own expectations. In the large hill Titisee-Neustadt there is a team competition and a single competition.
