Speed skating: Nico Ihle cracks Olympic standard over 1000 m

Nico Ihle broke the Olympic norm over 1000 m. The Chemnitzer finished 13th in 1:07.87 minutes at the fourth seasonal World Cup in Salt Lake City. and met the second part of the norm. Ihle had the first part last weekend in Calgary/Canada as 15th place. we’re done.

The second German sprinter, Joel Dufter, was last in 1:09.65, but the Inzeller had already met the Olympic norm.

The victory on the fast Olympic track of 2002 was won by the Russian Denis Juskow (1:06,92) ahead of the Dutchman Koen Verweij (1:06,94) and his compatriot Pawel Kulischnikow (1:06,94).

The Japanese Nao Kodaira caused a sensation among the women with a world record in 1:12.09 minutes over the same distance.

Gabriele Hirschbichler, who competed for the first time this season in the A-group over 1000 m, finished last in 1:15.76 minutes.
