Olympia 2018: IOC publishes judgement – Tretyakov and Belov incriminated

Russian skeleton pilot Alexander Tretyakov, banned by the IOC, was concretely burdened in the ruling published on Monday. In the 44-page declaration it was stated, among other things, that two rehearsals of Tretyakov were manipulated at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.

In addition, leniency witness Grigory Rodchenkov also made allegations against Tretyakov. The former head of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory explained that Tretyakov used banned substances. Rodtschenkov recalled a conversation in which he was told that the doping cocktail worked well at Tretyakov and that his starting times had improved by 0.05 to 0.07 seconds.

In addition, the name Tretyakov’s appears on the so-called “Duchess list”, which lists athletes who have received performance-enhancing substances under state control according to Rodtschenkov. Tretyakov was on the 22nd. For the rest of his life, he has been banned from the Olympic Games. His gold medal was taken away from him.

The IOC also published the reasons for the verdict in the case of cross-country skier Jevgeni Belov. Belov’s name was also on the Duchess list, and a total of three samples had been manipulated.

In the course of the doping scandal, the IOC has meanwhile ruled out 25 Russian athletes for life for all Olympic functions. All athletes have filed a complaint with CAS. Furthermore, Russia was excluded from the winter games in Pyeongchang, but clean athletes are allowed to start under neutral flag under certain conditions.
