Ski Alpin: This is what Anna Veith says after her comeback victory

Exactly 1001 days had to wait Anna Veith, before she was finally allowed to cheer for another World Cup victory. She was correspondingly emotional when she ended the dry spell with the Val d’ Isere Super-G success. That’s what the Salzburg woman said after her comeback victory.

On the emotional state after her triumph:”It is overwhelming for me. Very emotional and actually unbelievable that this happened today. There are already some tears shed because I always have to think about how hard I’ve had it in the last few years and which valley I’ve walked through.”

Whether she had ever thought of giving up:”Of course. Especially in situations where it was not so easy. I was saved by the fact that so many people believed in me and my passion for skiing. I always felt it wasn’t over yet.”

Where she wants to place this victory:”At the top. He’s above everything. Going through such a valley and returning to the top is the hardest part of a career. This deserves top place. Olympic gold or the overall victories, they were also difficult. But this is on a different level now.”

To whom she would like to thank:”As I said, there were many who have always believed in me. Especially the ski association, the Peter (needle/notice) has supported me extremely well in the last two years. In addition, there’s my physio team, so that I can ski painlessly and be confident of myself again.”

With what attitude she started the race:”I knew I could run a good run and do it well. I had it right in my head, and I took some trouble with me from yesterday. Of course, I didn’t know what it could do. The more beautiful it is now.”

That it was her first win as Anna Veith:”Of course it’s beautiful. But I feel like Anna. Veith or Fenninger. Glad to celebrate this victory at this stage of my life.”

What can still come now:”I hope for some more. I don’t want to promise anything, because I have days where things are better and days when things are worse. I didn’t implement it yesterday. I have to take advantage of the moments and it has to be a hundred percent suitable for victory. Victory is very important for my self-confidence. I’m on the right track, and I know I got it. I look forward to what’s yet to come.”
