Ski Alpin: Beat Feuz wins in Wengen, Matthias Mayer on the podium
For the first time since 2014, the Swiss alpine men have once again managed to clinch a home victory at the World Cup downhill classic in Wengen. At that time Patrick Küng won in the Bernese Oberland and on Saturday Beat Feuz left the competition behind with number one. The reigning world champion won 0.18 seconds ahead of Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal. Olympic champion Matthias Mayer (+0.67 sec.) finished third.
The fourth place went to the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) through Hannes Reichelt. Vincent Kriechmayr, fastest of the combined downhill run on Friday, finished sixth. For Feuz, it was the second Lauberhorn victory after 2012 and the second victory of the season: The 30-year-old had already won the descent in Lake Louise at the end of November.
