Ski Alpin: After illness: Rebensburg plans to start in Cortina d’ Ampezzo
Ski Olympic champion Viktoria Rebensburg (Kreuth) is planning to contest at least part of the World Cup races in the Italian Cortina d’ Ampezzo from Friday (in the LIVETICKER) after suffering from viral infectious diseases:”I feel much, much better, but maybe you can still hear a little bit,”said Rebensburg on Monday at the edge of the Olympic clothing in Munich with a slight voice.
In Cortina there are two departures (Friday/Saturday) and a Super-G (Sunday). Rebensburg is considering abandoning at least one of the two downhill runs – also because on the following Tuesday at the Kronplatz/Italy the penultimate World Cup race before the Olympics takes place in her special discipline giant slalom:”The five-day practice sessions on the speed ski might be a bit much,”she said.
After Rebensburg received the clothing for her third Olympics participation, she reported “extreme tingling sensations and extreme anticipation” for the games in Pyeongchang (9. till 25. February). North Korea’s announcement of its intention to participate with its own team was “very positive” and I was extremely pleased,”said the 28-year-old.
After gold in 2010 and bronze in 2014, Rebensburg’s goal is clear:”The Olympic Games are about medals – and even though I already have two at home, it’s my big dream to bring one back home with me”.
