Alpine Skiing: Downhill in “GAP”: Dreßen with Feuz-Sieg Siebter
Kitzbühel winner Thomas Dreßen did a good job on the “Streif” one week after his historic coup, but missed the podium at the World Cup downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The 24-year-old from Mittenwald was again the seventh best German at the Olympic dress rehearsal at the “Kandahar”. He was separated by 0.53 seconds from World Champion Beat Feuz (Switzerland), who won for the first time in “GAP”.
“The last few weeks have been very stressful. I’m glad to have a few days of peace and quiet,”said Dreßen on ARD television. But he is looking forward to the games “in any case enormously”.
Andreas Sander (Ennepetal/1.06 seconds ago) was on the podium until a big mistake at the entrance to the “Freie Fall” and finished tenth. Josef Ferstl (Hammer/2,17) was not among the best 20. At the same time second behind Feuz, who celebrated his tenth World Cup victory, were the Austrians Vincent Kriechmayr and Dominik Paris from South Tyrol (each 0.18).
The downhill is the first Olympic race in South Korea after a change of programme. It already takes place on 11. February (Sunday).
