Ski Alpin: Hirscher-Vertrauter fires next poison dart in the direction of Maier
Between Marcel Hirscher and Hermann Maier, the two most successful men in the history of the ÖSV, there is still a bit of a mood. Again and again poisonous arrows fly from one camp to another. Hirscher’s press spokesman now fires another one.
The starting point of the dispute was Hirscher’s compensation in the race for most of the world cup victories of an Austrian skier. With the success in the night slalom of Schladming Hirscher and Maier were equal, both hold at 54. This was followed by an official letter of congratulations from the Herminator, which was not taken very seriously in many places.
Hirscher’s camp countered in the current blog of the World Cup leader with a point against Maier by thanking Alberto Tomba for his honest and personal congratulations.
“There is a lot of interpretation into this story, in principle the relationship between the two is not bad,”says Stefan Illek, Hirscher’s press spokesman and PR professional, in the OÖN. However, Maier’s message of congratulations has provoked irritation:”A man whose incredible successes are not called into question by anyone does not need such a thing. It would have been enough if Hermann had sent Marcel a short text message,”says Illek.
He had written an “evil letter” to the author of the text, because the author was not Maier himself, but his press man,”Maier is very badly advised”, says Illek.
