Ski-alpine: Fall in “GAP”: Wiles with severe injuries
Ski racer Jacqueline Wiles was seriously injured when she fell at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen downhill of the World Cup and is out of action for the Olympic Winter Games. The American (25) suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligament, a fibula fracture and a fracture of the tibial head.
A corresponding diagnosis was made by trauma surgeon Christoph Mössmer on Saturday at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Clinic. Wiles is well apart from her injuries, but she is undergoing pain therapy. If things go well, she should be able to travel back to the USA on Sunday.
The fall had the 80th anniversary. I can’t be 100% happy,”said Vonn, whose protégé is Wiles. When the talent ran out of money in winter 2015/16 and she threatened to fly off the team, Vonn stepped in with her foundation. At the departure in Cortina d’ Ampezzo two weeks ago, Wiles was third on a World Cup podium for the second time.
