Biathlon: Denise Herrmann drops out for World Cup races in Kontiolahti, Finland
The German biathletes enter the World Cup races without Denise Herrmann from Thursday in Kontiolahti, Finland. The two-time season’s winner from Oberwiesenthal is still in poor health and will be spared for the following competitions in Oslo next week. This was announced by the German Ski Association on Tuesday.
In Finland, on the other hand, double Olympic gold medallist Laura Dahlmeier is taking part. The Partenkirchnerin is accompanied by Maren Hammerschmidt (Winterberg), Franziska Hildebrand (Clausthal-Zellerfeld), Vanessa Hinz (Schliersee) and Franziska Preuß (Haag).
The men’s team will be in top form, led by sprint Olympic champion Arnd Peiffer (Clausthal-Zellerfeld), mass start runner-up Simon Schempp (Uhingen) and the pursuit third Benedikt Doll (Breitnau).
The line-up is completed by the Olympic starters Johannes Kühn (Reit im Winkl) and Erik Lesser (Frankenhain) as well as Roman Rees (SV Schauinsland), who had not been deployed in Pyeongchang.
