Olympic champion Eric Frenzel (Oberwiesenthal) has been disqualified at the Nordic Combine World Cup in Trondheim, Norway. One day after his second win of the season in the same spot, the Saxon was taken off the hill shortly before his jump, because his suit did not meet the requirements.

As the best German, Fabian Rießle (Breitnau) is in tenth place. The team Olympic champion came to 126.0 m and is 58 seconds behind the leading Japanese Go Yamamoto in cross-country skiing over ten kilometres (16.15 hrs/ARD and Eurosport),”Maybe there’s still something in front,”said Rießle on ARD television.

The other DSV starters are already clearly behind: Björn Kircheisen (Johanngeorgenstadt/+1:19), Manuel Faißt (Baiersbronn/+1:22), record world champion Johannes Rydzek (Oberstdorf/+1:50) and team Olympic champion Vinzenz Geiger (Oberstdorf/+1:51) occupy only ranks 19,22,34 and 35.

The Japanese rider Akito Watabe, who is leading in the overall World Cup, must make up 36 seconds in fifth place, but is clearly ahead of his rival Jan Schmid from Norway (+1:01).

The American Bryan Fletcher took the last step in his career. The 31-year-old came to 128.0 m and is in the race as eleventh “This was a fantastic jump to say goodbye. I had a great career, now I’m going to study,”said Fletcher, who won bronze medal with the team in 2013.
