Freestyle skiing: For sexual harassment: Korean Olympic starters banned for life
Two South Korean Olympic athletes have been locked up for life by their country’s ski federation for sexual harassment of their teammates.
The two freestyle skiers Jae-woo Choi (24) and Ji-hyon Kim (23), who competed at the winter games in Pyeongchang, were withdrawn from their registrations as skiers in a first step.
The incident is said to have occurred during a competition in Japan a few days ago. Choi and Kim had drunk alcohol in their hotel room and asked their teammates from the adjoining room to join them. When they refused, Choi and Kim had become intrusive and violent. The women filed charges after returning to their home country.
Korea’s popular Choi is currently ranked sixth in the World Cup and made it to the final in Pyeongchang. Kim was eliminated in the qualification.
