Alpine skiing: Felix Neureuther: “That’s why Marcel Hirscher is even faster
Felix Neureuther is currently preparing for his comeback after his cruciate ligament rupture. The German hopes that he will already be at the World Cup opening in Sölden on 28 October to finally be able to duel again with his friend Marcel Hirscher.
The 34-year-old admits in the Krone interview that he was not sure that he would compete again in the World Cup due to his serious injury.
“In the summer there have not been a few days in rehab that I thought of: “The others are shoving their weights there, and I simply cannot. Because first the knee hurt and then the back hurt. And at home, Mrs. Miri and little Matilda are waiting for you. So why are you still doing this to yourself? But then the thoughts became less again”, said Neureuther.
As far as Marcel Hirscher is concerned, Neureuther is certain that the superstar will make his competitors even more desperate this season. He cites as the reason that Hirscher soon expects offspring.
“The baby makes Marcel even better. Even if this seems actually hard to imagine after the incomprehensible last winter of him”, says Neureuther, who continues:
“I was able to experience for myself that being a father is the most beautiful main job in the world. There the priorities shift, you notice what is really decisive. In this respect, skiing is “only” more pleasure, and I think Marcel will also enjoy it that way.”
