Alpine skiing: Sofia Goggia suffered ankle fracture

Sofia Goggia will not start the giant slalom in Sölden next Saturday, but probably in January in the Alpine Ski World Cup.
The Italian downhill Olympic champion from Pyeongchang crashed on Friday during glacier training in Hintertux and suffered a fracture of her right ankle.
According to the Italian Ski Association, the ankle is immobilised for four to five weeks with plaster, after which the 25-year-old receives a splint. “This incident means that I have to redimension my objectives for the World Cup winter,” said Goggia.
Despite the injury, the winner of five World Cup races hopes to get into shape in time for the World Championships in Aare (February 5-17).
