Alpine skiing: Neureuther gives green light for Sölden
Felix Neureuther will make his comeback in the World Cup at the giant slalom on Sunday (10.00/13.00 in the LIVETICKER) on the Rettenbach glacier in Sölden, Austria. Fritz Dopfer (Garmisch) will also start. “Now there is no reason why they don’t ski,” said Wolfgang Maier, Alpine Chief of the German Ski Association (DSV), on Saturday.
The 34-year-old Neureuther had suffered a cruciate ligament rupture during training in the USA on 25 November 2017. At last, however, his start had been questionable mainly because of back pain.
Dopfer, runner-up at the 2015 World Championships, had dropped out in July, August and September due to tendon irritation in the adductor area and is lagging behind in training.
Also present will be Stefan Luitz (Bolsterlang), who is fit again after a cruciate ligament rupture last December and returns.
