Ski Alpin: Hirscher: “Can’t be a season like any other”
Marcel Hirscher will not have another season of superlatives. At least if the Salzburger himself thinks so.
The reason for this, however, lies less in the sporting field than in the private one, as the neo-dad explains. “To be truly world class, it is necessary to set priorities clearly. Let’s see how long the compromise works,” Hirscher tells the Krone, thus addressing his changed situation.
For the ski dominator of recent years, the focus has shifted to other things. “Priorities have changed. Ski racing isn’t the most important thing in my life anymore. It can’t be a season like any other before,” says Hirscher. “Family now comes first. I see every race as a kind of gift.”
Nevertheless, he was naturally pleased to be able to prove his winning qualities right from the start. The tension he had felt before the start evaporated so quickly.
“I was already relieved after the first run, made a hackle. I knew: Perfect, I’m back in a position to win races, I’m one of the fastest,” says Hirscher.
