EuroBasket 2017: Crazy final!

In a high-class and dramatic EuroBasket final, Slovenia beat Serbia 93-85.The two most important Slovenian players were injured during the game.

Luka Doncic landed in the third quarter unhappy and had to go down, a little later Goran Dragic was also caught, who was missing in the final phase.Dragic had been the most outstanding man so far (35 points, 7 rebounds), but the Slovenians managed to save their lead over time.In the final phase, Klemen Prepelic played a particularly strong role (21 points at the end).

In the Serbs, where Bayern-Guard Stefan Jovic also only played 14 minutes due to injury, Bogdan Bogdanovic was the top scorer with 22 points, Milan Macvan scored 18 points.But they could not prevent Slovenia from becoming European champion for the first time in its history.

3rdQuarter: Dragic didn’t even think about taking his foot off the accelerator.The Serbs had to invest a lot of money to keep up with the pace.Just five minutes before the end of the quarter, Doncic landed unhappy and had to leave.While Dragic was sitting on the bench, Bogdanovic narrowed his score to 4 points behind, Slovenia lost the thread.Dragic returned after a flaming speech during the time-out and gave his team some stability again. 71:67 Slovenia ahead of the last quarter!

4thQuarter four: While Dragic was sitting on the bench, he was in a bad way, Blazic kept the machine running.But the Serbs couldn’t break up.Macvan took another Serbia lead just over four minutes from time, but now it was Prepelic who led his team back. Randolph came back to 86:82 in 1:38, then Vidmar Bogdanovic blocked and Prepelic got three free throws in return.He scored two, missed Bogdanovic and then the Slovenians rocked home the victory on the free-throw line.

Goran Dragic.Even though he ran out of strength in the end and his team had to get along without him in the final stages, the star of this game was clearly the Guard of Miami Heat.Especially in the second quarter he played absolutely terrific, the Serbs never had a means to really control him.If this was really his farewell from the national team, it was a worthy one.

Boban Marjanovic.In the beginning it seemed as if the Pistons Center would become an X-factor, but in the further course of the game it was hardly able to use its economies of scale profitably – on the contrary.Boban only scored one of his five throws (6 points) and the little Slovenes played knots into his legs one by one.So he was only on the court for 15 minutes.
