MLB: Jake Arrieta makes three more regular starts for the Cubs
The Chicago Cubs are planning to launch Jake Arrieta in a divisional duel against Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. After Arrieta only played one match in September due to a thigh injury, three more starts before the playoffs seem to be possible.
Arrieta took a short training session on Tuesday, throwing 25 pitches. The pitcher spoke of a good feeling after training:”The good news is that the power in my arm is there,” Arrieta said on Tuesday,”actually I feel even better with the little break.
The 31-year-old was closely watched by the training squad and Cubs president Theo Epstein,”He made a good impression,”Epstein said,”he threw his pitches in a controlled manner and didn’t feel any pain.If everything goes well and he can play on Thursday, a total of three more starts will go off before the playoffs.”
Arrieta lost in the game against Pittsburgh Pirates on 4.September injured by the field.Although the injury was not a dramatic one, the Cubs remained cautious with a premature comeback to fall back on a fit Arrieta in the postseason.
The Cubs won the first of two games in Tampa Bay 2-1 on Tuesday, and currently have a lead of 3 1/2 games over the second-placed Brewers.
