Winter sports: Dahlmeier honoured as skier of the year 2017
Biathlete Laura Dahlmeier is Germany’s skier of the year 2017.The 24-year-old Partenkirchnerin, who won five gold medals at the World Championships in Hochfilzen, was awarded by the DSV on Thursday in Künzelsau as part of her active wear for the new season.
In the third national team athlete’s election, Dahlmeier prevailed over the combined racers Johannes Rydzek (Oberstdorf), who had won four times at the World Championships in Lahti, Finland, as well as ski-jumping world champion Andreas Wellinger (Ruhpolding).
Dahlmeier succeeded ski jumper Severin Freund (Rastbüchl/2015) and combiner Eric Frenzel (Oberwiesenthal/2016), who had prevailed in the previous elections.
All winners of the Golden Ski, who were awarded prizes in Künzelsau on Thursday, were eligible for the election.
