DEL: ERC Ingolstadt separates from coach Samuelsson
The ERC Ingolstadt has reacted to his defeat series and dismissed coach Tommy Samuelsson. The Oberbayern had lost seven games in a row in the DEL last time and had slipped to ninth place in the table. For the Swede, who took over the ERC in July 2016, sports director Larry Mitchell will initially take over the training until a successor is found.
“We have come to the conclusion that we have decided to fill the position of head coach,”said Mitchell after a discussion with the club’s board of directors and management. Samuelsson’s poor score in particular was his downfall. Ingolstadt has only scored 50 goals so far, with Straubing Tigers (48) coming last in the field even less successful.
“We would like to thank Tommy Samuelsson for his dedication to the ERC Ingolstadt”, CEO Claus Gröbner and Mitchell were both quoted in unison in a press release:”Tommy has put his heart and soul into the Panther over the past one and a half years, going beyond the trainer’s work and his network.”.
