Handball: Rhine-Neckar lions in a tight schedule
Within just 25 hours, the Rhine-Neckar lions meet Leipzig and then FC Barcelona. The tight schedule is not understood by those in charge, but none of the games should be given away.
“This is clearly beyond the bounds of reasonableness,”complained HBL Managing Director Frank Bohmann. Oliver Roggisch, the sports director, also shows his incomprehension of the tight schedule:”Clearly, a limit has been exceeded here, which we cannot accept in this way.
According to Bohmann, there was no possibility of moving one of the games. The match in Leipzig will be broadcast on ARD,”and Barcelona’s home games in the royal class will only be played on weekends,”explains Bohmann.
The exceptional external circumstances cause the German champion to take special logistical measures. Immediately after the match for Leipzig, the team travels by bus to Berlin and spends the night near Schoenefeld Airport before flying to Barcelona the following morning.
“The most important thing will be to regenerate well and sleep as much as possible. The trick is to shut down quickly after the Leipzig game,”explains Roggisch.
