Ice hockey: shark coach Draisaitl draws positive interim conclusion
Peter Draisaitl has drawn a positive balance of his first two weeks as head coach of the Cologne sharks in the DEL “My impression of the team is okay. I can live with it as it is,”said the 51-year-old to the Kölnische Rundschau.
“The home game on Sunday against Iserlohn has already shown clear tendencies, what is good and what needs to be improved in order to form a good team into a very good one.
Leon Draisaitl, the father of NHL star Leon Draisaitl, was particularly pleased with the goalkeeper and underscoring games,”In addition, the players adapt very quickly what we want them to do. I would say the important things are there,”he said. At the same time, Draisaitl criticized weaknesses in the speed of action as well as in the switching game and demanded that his team play “hard, fast and easy”.
After two defeats from the start, the former shark striker coached the club to four victories in a row, lastly the Cologne-based 4-2 triumphed against Iserlohn Roosters and advanced to eighth place in the DEL. Former international Draisaitl had succeeded Canadian Cory Clouston in the Rhineland.
