Handball: Mansson ends in DHB team – national team facing radical change
The German women’s handball national team is facing a radical change after the elimination in the last sixteen of the World Championship at home. In addition to national coach Michael Biegler, who will be in charge of SC DHfK Leipzig from January, some national players will end their international careers.
Rear player Nadja Mansson announced after the 17:21 defeat of Denmark that she would withdraw from the DHB.
“I’m not gonna play a national team anymore. It was the last game for me,”Mansson told SID:”Of course it’s a pity it ends like that, but I’m definitely one of those who won’t be playing for the national team anymore,” the 29-year-old Borussia Dortmund right-hander scored 275 goals in 78 international matches.
Players such as captain Anna Loerper (33) and goalkeeper Clara Woltering (34), on the other hand, left their future open:”I assume that many players will end their careers and that is of course sad to end their careers in this way. This has been a huge opportunity to play a World Cup in Germany,”said Loerper.
You yourself “need a little more to process it. I don’t know yet and I don’t want to make a decision based on emotionality.”
