Ski alpine skiing: Schmid’s early end for parallel giant slalom in Alta Badia

Alexander Schmid (Fischen) dropped out early in the parallel world cup giant slalom in Alta Badia/Italy after an accident.

In the first round duel with Henrik Kristoffersen, the Allgäuer lost his right stick in the second run and had to admit defeat to the Norwegian with a gap of 0.17 seconds. The first round was won by the only German starter in the field of 32 players with a lead of 0.14 seconds.

Kristoffersen made it to the finals, but lost to Matts Olsson in the final. The 29-year-old Swede celebrated the first World Cup victory of his career with a lead of three hundredths of a second. Third place went to Austria’s ski star Marcel Hirscher.

The 23-year-old Schmid finished sixth at the giant slalom in Val d’ Isere at the beginning of the month with a ticket to the winter games in Pyeongchang (9th place). till 25. February) is saved.
