EuroLeague: Brose Bamberg also loses against Real
With his second defeat against a direct competitor within three days, the German champion Brose Bamberg lost ground in the EuroLeague. 48 hours after the 84:88 at Zalgiris Kaunas, coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team was without a chance at the 66:81 (35:50) against the Spanish record holder Real Madrid.
Bamberg remains in tenth place after 14 games in the preliminary round with six wins and eight defeats. The first eight players qualify for the quarter-finals.
“We don’t have enough power,”Trinchieri said at halftime,”we don’t get rebounds, we don’t play defense.”
Even in the first quarter of the year, the Franconians played almost every chance of winning. Bamberg did not catch up the 16-point gap against the 2015 Euro League winner.
The best thrower was Daniel Hackett with 13 points, while Trey Thompkins outdid the Spaniards with 20 points.
