Handball:”Very good chances”: EHF President Wiederer for European Handball Championship in Germany
EHF President Michael Wiederer has spoken out in favour of Germany as host of one of the upcoming European Handball Championships. The chances for this would be “very good. With France, Germany is one of the nations that can host an EC with 24 participants on its own due to the interest of the spectators and the hall situation,”said Wiederer in an interview during the Handball Week.
For European handball this would be “without question very interesting”.
The German Handball Federation (DHB), which has never hosted a Men’s European Championship before, has applied for the European Championship 2024 and is competing with the joint campaigns of Denmark, Switzerland, Hungary and Slovakia. The decision on the organisation of the EM 2022 and 2024 will be made at the congress of the European Handball Federation EHF on 18. June in Glasgow, Scotland.
“DHB Vice President Bob Hanning recently told the Funke Media Group that”If the European Championship 2024 is to be well organised and become an economic success, then we are the right people to do so “, said DHB Vice President Bob Hanning recently and was also open to a prelude on a large stage:” I could imagine that the opening match will take place in the Düsseldorf football arena.
