In the last match of the main group II in the European Championship in Croatia in Varazdin there will be the ultimate showdown for the semi-finals between Germany and Spain (8.30 pm in the LIVETICKER). “We have to play like men,”Spain’s team manager Iker Romero told handball-world:”Germany is one of the best teams in the world. You’ve got really good goalkeepers, a good defence, a really good quality attack.”

Gedeon Guardiola of the Rhine-Neckar Lions, the round runner of the two-time world champion, who has never won the title in an European Championship, summed it up with drastic words:”We will need victory, Germany will need victory. It’s death or life.”

Germany last had two days off, while the Spaniards only have a little more than 24 hours to regenerate after their desperate performance against Slovenia on Tuesday evening. But that’s no excuse.

“I’m not the one looking for an excuse. I’ve been playing handball for 20 years and it’s just not an excuse. We had two days off and lost to Slovenia,”said Romero.
