DEL: Adler Mannheim beat future coach Gross
The Adler Mannheim have annoyed their future trainer Pavel Gross in the DEL. The seven-time champion won 7-3 (3-3,3-0,1-0) on Friday evening at the Grizzly’s Wolfsburg and coach Gross, who will move to Mannheim next season.
The eagles were equal to their opponent in points (both 67) and are now eighth, Wolfsburg slipped to sixth place.
The fight for the three places that are still open for direct qualification for the play-off quarter-finals is becoming more and more exciting. The Cologne sharks (67) lost 0:5 (0:2,0:3,0:0) to Red Bull Munich, and the traditional club from the Rhine is now in seventh place.
The Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven (69) are the fourth after a 5-0 (2-0,1-0,2-0,2-0) win over the Duesseldorf EC. The Iserlohn Roosters (68) advanced to fifth place by 5-2 (0-1,3-1,2-0) against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers (89). However, Franconia’s runners-up in the quarter-finals, however, are assured of a place in the quarter-finals, as are Munich (97) and the third-placed Eisbären Berlin (88).
Phil Hungerecker (33th/36th) and Chad Kolarik (38th) made the eagles’ victory clear by scoring three goals in less than five minutes in the middle period. Mads Christensen was doubly successful for Munich.
