DEL: Nuremberg hires Danish national team player Bjorkstrand

The Nuremberg Ice Tigers signed the Danish national team player Patrick Bjorkstrand in the German Ice Hockey League before the season-end spurt.

The 25-year-old striker moved from the Finnish first division club KooKoo in Kouvola to second place in the standings and signed a contract dated to the end of the season. Bjorkstrand comes to Franconia with the recommendation of 14 goals and 23 assists from 52 seasonal games.

“Patrick is a very aggressive striker who can be used both as a midfielder and as a left-winger,”said Nuremberg’s sports director Martin Jiranek:”With him, our attack becomes even more creative, but Patrick also plays a very responsible role in the reverse movement.”

After a strong season so far with 94 points from 49 games, the Ice Tigers have already made a name for themselves on the 7th place. Play-offs starting on March 1.
