Basketball: Schröder apparently becomes majority shareholder of Löwen Braunschweig

NBA star Dennis Schröder apparently becomes majority owner of his home club Basketball Löwen Braunschweig. As the Braunschweiger Zeitung reported on Tuesday, the national player is to become the majority shareholder of Löwen GmbH. The association itself, through its press spokeswoman, let it be known that Mr. Schröder was in talks with him, but that nothing had yet been signed.

According to a newspaper report, the top scorer of Atlanta Hawks is to buy Staake Investment’s shares and also contribute EUR 150,000 to the total equity capital of EUR 250,000 needed in the basketball Bundesliga next season.

However, the association did not want to confirm this model upon request:”The entire construction is not yet carved in stone,”the spokeswoman told SID. However, it is certain that in the past few days representatives of the Supervisory Board of the Lions were in Atlanta for talks with Schröder’s discoverer Livio Calin.

Dennis Schröder had already announced in mid-February, during a visit to his home country on the fringes of a game of the lions, that he wanted to buy the club “We definitely want to build a top-five team in Germany. This is my dream, because I come from Brunswick. We will definitely work on this,”said Schröder at the time at Telekom Sport.

Schröder completes his fifth NBA season at the Hawks. Atlanta, the final contender for the Eastern Conference, currently has only 18 wins after 61 games. On Monday, Atlanta defeated Los Angeles Lakers for the fourth time in a row.
