Ski jumping: ski jumping: Olympic gold medallist Althaus wins after abort in Rasnov
Olympic runner-up Katharina Althaus celebrated her fourth victory in the Ski Jumping World Cup. Just under two weeks after her silver coup from Pyeongchang, the 21-year-old from Oberstdorf won the competition in Rasnov, Romania, which was interrupted after a run due to strong winds, in front of Olympic champion Maren Lundby from Norway.
Sochi Olympic champion Carina Vogt (Degenfeld) in third place and Juliane Seyfarth (Ruhla), who equalized her best career result in fifth place, rounded off the very strong German performance.
In the overall World Cup, Althaus, who has been on the podium at every start of the season, ranks second behind Lundby (920) with 740 points, and with a victory in the second jump on Sunday (9 a. m. CET) she can secure the crystal ball ahead of schedule in three more competitions that are still to come.
On the trampoline Valea Carbunarii in Transylvania, Althaus jumped 93.5 m in her third win of the season in a tough and several times interrupted round and was 0.3 points ahead of Lundby with 118.6 points, which reached 92.0 m. Lundby was not able to finish the season on time. World champion Vogt achieved 111.2 points with 89.5 m and had a good lead to fourth place.
