NBA: Mavs beat Knicks and Dirk delivers statement
The Dallas Mavericks have confirmed their good form from the past few days and won clearly at the New York Knicks. Dirk Nowitzki used this for a statement regarding the direction of the march for the season’s final spurt.
The Mavs are likely to play a major role in the draft lottery – but the odds in this are not the top priority. Dirk Nowitzki, for example, ensures this with his attitude:”We continue to play hard. Obviously, there are a few teams out for defeats – but we are a team that still wants to win. We’ll see where we land in the lottery.”
But the third win in the Big Apple was the third victory of the last four games – and the first away win in over a month,”I didn’t know it was so long ago,”Nowitzki admitted afterwards. With 13 points (5/10 FG) and 6 rebounds he contributed a solid part to the final sovereign coup.
The decision was made in the third quarter, which the Mavs won with 26:12. In this section, unlike before, they were able to close the zone. They only scored 4 points on the board and in the 12 minutes in question only allowed a 26.3 percent throwing rate. The hosts stayed 6 minutes without a point and did not recover from it.
The best man on the floor was Harrison Barnes, who scored 30 points and distributed 4 assists. Also Rookie Dennis Smith Jr. had his moments with 17 points. Maxi Kleber was not used although he would have been available.
Tim Hardaway Jr. stemmed from the Knicks, who claimed their eighth consecutive defeat. with 19 points against the inevitable, Michael Beasley hung up 21 points as a banker.
