DEL: Penguins get Bettauer, DEG commits Wentzel
The Krefeld Penguins from the DEL have signed James Bettauer as their first new member. Meanwhile, the Düsseldorf EC has also become active and has signed Swedish goalkeeper Fredrik Pettersson Wentzel for the coming season.
The 27-year-old German Canadian James Bettauer moves from the Straubing Tigers to the former champion Krefeld. The contract with Joel Keussen has been extended. How long the two defenders were tied was not announced by the KEV.
“James is a stable defender who has a very good shot and can also be used as a striker. He has proven his class over the last few years and hardly missed a game,” said Managing Director and Sports Director Matthias Roos.
The 26-year-old Fredrik Pettersson moves to Düsseldorf from his home town of HV 71 Jönköping to the Rhine. Canadian goalie Dan Bakala, on the other hand, is leaving the club.
“We were keen to have another strong goalkeeper in the squad next season alongside Mathias Niederberger. We undoubtedly succeeded in this with the appointment of Fredrik Pettersson Wentzel,” said DEG Managing Director Stefan Adam.
Pettersson Wentzel has made five appearances for the Swedish national team.
