Basketball: Champions League Final Four 2018: Information about the finals
The Basketball Champions League is entering the hot phase! At the beginning of May the Champions League winner will be crowned in Athens – even a German club is still in the Final Four!
SPOX has summarized the most important information about the second final round of the BCL for you.
Since October 2017, 32 top European teams have competed for a ticket to the Final Four. AS Monaco Basket, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, AEK Athens and UCAM Murcia have finally qualified for the final round.
With the EWE Baskets Oldenburg, medi Bayreuth and Telekom Baskets Bonn, three German clubs were eliminated in the course of the competition. Defending champion Iberostar Tenerife lost to this year’s finalist Murcia in the round of 16.
The final round will be played from 4 to 6 May. The two semi-finals will take place on the 4th, the match for third place and the final match after a day off on May 6th.
Ludwigsburg will face Monaco in the semi-final, Murcia will play AEK.
The venue is the OAKA Olympic Indoor Hall, the Olympic Hall in Athens. The multi-purpose hall in the Athens suburb of Marousi was opened in 1995 and renovated for the 2004 Summer Games. With a capacity of 18,989 spectators, the hall is Greece’s largest sports hall and one of the largest in Europe.
While the entire Champions League season – i.e. in all qualifying rounds, the Regular Season as well as the round of 16 and quarter finals – the pairings were decided on a round trip, there are only direct deciding matches in the Final Four.
The rights for the live broadcast of the Basketball Champions League have been secured as in the previous season DAZN. The streaming portal broadcasts all matches of the German participants as well as selected matches live and in full length.
In addition to the BCL, the “Netflix des Sport” features numerous other live and exclusive sports events, for example from Europe’s top football leagues or the four major US sports leagues NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL. After a free trial month, the subscription costs 9.99 euros per month. Click here for the complete programme overview.
While the fans of the Greek host can buy their tickets directly from the homepage of the Basketball Champions League, German fans have to buy their tickets from the giants Ludwigsburg. Click here to register.
Fans from other countries are requested to contact the AEK Athens via tickets@aekbc.gr
