MLB: Colorado Rockies put DJ LeMahieu on Disabled List
The Colorado Rockies have put Second Baseman DJ LeMahieu on the 10-Day Disabled List. He suffers from a compression of the left thumb. There’s an alternate standing by.
Infielder Pat Valaika, who was most recently active for Triple-A Albuquerque, will take over the LeMahieu squad. Both transactions were made on the Monday before the match against the San Diego Padres.
LeMahieu injured himself in a swing on Sunday in his defeat against the Milwaukee Brewers. He beats this season.279 with five home runs and 13 RBI. For LeMahieu, this is already the second DL trip this year, after he had already dropped out from 30 April to 8 May with an injury to the large hamstring muscle.
LeMahieu, who was twice voted to the National League All-Star team and has a Gold Glove Award in his showcase, are the first DL stays in his entire Major League career.
Valaika had started the season with the Rockies Big League team, but only beat .103 and was reassigned to the Triple A team on May 8.
