WWE: WWE – Money in the Bank 2018: Brutal!
In the Allstate Arena in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, not only were two new suitcase carriers crowned, but cash in also came straight away. AJ Styles played his WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura in a Last Man standing match that, as expected, convinced wrestlers and SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella received support against Asuka.
Winner & still SmackDown Tag Team Champions: The Bludgeon Brothers per The Bludgeoning. The expected result of a filler match. Gallows & Anderson maintain their status as an insignificant midcard team, which even the mating with AJ Styles could not change. At the same time, the SmackDown Tag Team Division is currently completely lacking in perspective, despite a top-class line-up. Harper&Rowan were pushed, but at the same time the responsible persons seem to have no plan how it should go on. The Usos, Sheamus&Cesaro, SAnitY and The New Day are just a few of the most talented WWE teams. The Champs need, in order not to disappear again in the sinking, promptly finally strong feuds against these.
Winner: Daniel Bryan per Heel Hook. The feud should end because neither party can win anything here. With his political statements and his solo run against a midget at the beginning of the storyline, Cass apparently spoiled his chances for a push backstage, which his performances in the ring do not justify anyway. At the same time, this program is not worthy of the talent of a Bryan, for whom various dream matches are waiting in the blue fire. Rumour has it that his contract is due to end on September 1, 2018 and that the reason for this mediocre feud has not been extended so far. WWE fans can only hope that the former World-Champ will soon sign a new contract so that the long-awaited feud vs. The Miz, as well as dream programs with Styles, Nakamura or Samoa Joe, can finally get underway.
Winner: Bobby Lashley per Vertical Suplex. As expected, Zayn was portrayed weakly in a short match that fits a catastrophically poorly written storyline. Unfortunately, neither this result nor the questionable choice of Lashley’s new finisher changes the fact that his WWE comeback so far is a complete debacle that has noticeably harmed both men. After just a few months, the ex-TNAler urgently needs a program that restores his momentum (if possible), while Zayn also emerges weakened from this feud and has now been doddling around for some time without a clear perspective. One can only hope that this story was finished at MitB, because both men have no chance to win anything here.
Winner & Intercontinental Champion: Seth Rollins by Rollup with grip on his trousers. A title win for Elias would undoubtedly have been a sensible decision to bring the former drifter forward. Elias is immensely over, but at the same time another example of a man whose talent and momentum are obviously too much for the WWE managers. A midcard title would have been exactly what he would have needed on his way to a future world title run. But at the same time, the IC title is currently also the highest of feelings for a Rollins, which is actually far too big for this division. But since the perspective Universal Title is completely missing at the moment, Seth just remains this title, to which he undoubtedly gives back prestige. This feud should continue because of the dirty finish and a title win for Elias is still conceivable. At the same time, however, it would be feared that he would be given an uninspired run, while Rollins would hang in the air due to the Lesnar/Reigns situation.
