Basketball: World Cup qualifier: DBB team against Estonia
The German national basketball team is demanding the selection from Estonia today, Thursday, 13 September, at 6 p.m. in the qualification for the 2019 World Cup in China. SPOX provides you with the most important information about the game and tells you where you can follow the game.
With an impeccable record, the DBB team enters the World Cup qualifying match against outsider Estonia. After six victories in six games to date, the ticket to China would be within their grasp with a win in Estonia. Another six games are still to be played, the top three teams in each group will buy tickets for next year’s World Cup. At the moment, the DBB is at the top of its group with the Greeks on the same points.
The qualifying match for the 2019 World Cup in China starts tonight at 6 pm in the Saku-Suurhall Arena in the Estonian capital Tallinn.
The entire World Cup qualification can be seen at Telekom Sport, where the VTG Supercup was already on show in Hamburg. In contrast to the preparatory tournament, however, the qualifying matches are not available free of charge; only Telekom sports customers can follow the World Cup qualification.
Estonia, 47th in the world rankings, only just made it into the second qualifying round. Nevertheless, DBB coach Henrik Rödl raises his warning finger: “Estonia and Israel are strong teams, on the same level as us,” Rödl estimates the two upcoming opponents. “Estonia may not have the same standard as Turkey or Italy, but it doesn’t have any big stars. But the nimble long-range shooters can be quite dangerous,” said Rödl after the final training.
