Alpine skiing: Sölden: ÖSV hope in waiting position – Italian woman leads to continuous snowfall

The Italian Federica Brignone is the half-time leader of the women’s alpine skiers’ opening World Cup race on Saturday on the Rettenbach Glacier. On a shortened course, the 28-year-old Sölden winner from three years ago has a 0.24-second lead over ball defender Viktoria Rebensburg from Germany. The second run starts at 13 o’clock (in the LIVETICKER).

Best Austrian was Stephanie Brunner in sixth place (0.94). Tessa Worley (0.40) from France is third in the snowfall and poor visibility race, while overall World Cup winner and RTL Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) is fourth (0.60).

As 16th (after 40 runners) Anna Veith is already 2.60 seconds behind in her Sölden comeback, Bernadette Schild follows one place and 1/100 behind.
