Nordic combined: Mario Seidl triumphs for the first time in the World Cup

The Nordic combined Mario Seidl celebrated his first World Cup victory on Saturday at the age of 25.

At the start of the home World Championship season in Ruka (Finland), the man from Salzburg prevailed after a superior jump performance with 16.5 seconds ahead of the Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber. It was the first success for the ÖSV team of head coach Christoph Eugen since the end of February 2016.

Third place went to German Olympic champion Johannes Rydzek (+1:08.0 min.). Second best Austrian was Wilhelm Denifl as sixth (1:21,5). Former World Champion Bernhard Gruber did not compete due to a cold.
