Handball: DHB Cup: Pavlovic 20 minutes treated on field
The German handball record champion THW Kiel is the first team to reach the Final Four for the DHB Cup. Coach Alfred Gislason’s team won the quarter-final against MT Melsungen on Tuesday evening with 31:19 (19:8).
The game was overshadowed by the serious injury of Domagoj Pavlovic. After a collision with Domagoj Duvnjak after about 30 seconds, the playmaker had to be treated on the field for almost 20 minutes and then taken to hospital with suspicion of a fracture of the fibula.
The game of the record cup winner Kiel had been brought forward due to a hall occupancy on the planned date 18th/19th December.
In the other quarter-final matches, the Füchse Berlin will face defending champions Rhein-Neckar Löwen, TSV Hannover-Burgdorf will play against HC Erlangen (both 18 December), and the following day SC Magdeburg will welcome Frisch Auf Göppingen.
The Final Four will be held on 6 and 7 April 2019 in Hamburg.
