Ski-Alpin: Swiss double victory at downhill in Beaver Creek

After three second places the Swiss Beat Feuz celebrated his first victory in the World Cup downhill in Beaver Creek on Friday. The World Champion won his eighth World Cup in the fastest discipline on a shortened course ahead of his compatriot Mauro Caviezel (+0.07 sec.). Best placed Austrian was Vincent Kriechmayr in fifth place (+0.26).

Hannes Reichelt (0.45) finished seventh (after 40 runners), while Max Franz (+0.90), the season opening winner in Lake Louise, and Matthias Mayer (0.91) missed the top ten. The ÖSV runners have been waiting for a podium place in Beaver Creek since 2013, the Oberösterreicher Kriechmayr was 0.18 seconds behind the third placed Aksel Lund Svindal. The Norwegian has won four downhill races on the Bird of Prey track, including the last two, and finished seventh on the podium on Friday.
