Alpine skiing: Felix Neureuther makes his comeback

After an injury break of more than a year, Felix Neureuther is about to make his comeback in the Ski World Cup this weekend. The 34-year-old German will compete in the giant slalom of Val d’Isere on Saturday, as the German Ski Federation (DSV) announced in its squad nomination on Wednesday. The veteran was absent for months due to a cruciate ligament rupture suffered in November 2017.

At last the Bavarian could not drive because he broke his thumb during training. Originally, we assumed a six-week break until everything healed properly. Neureuther will therefore compete in France in the giant slalom with a special rail.

Because of the injury, he will probably not participate in the slalom on Sunday, because he will have to box away the goalposts by hand in the slowest alpine discipline.
