Biathlon: Eder in Pokljuka again under Top-10

Simon Eder has also finished the second Biathlon World Cup race of the new season in the top ten. The 35-year-old from Salzburg missed the podium relatively clearly after finishing third over 20 kilometres on Thursday in the sprint on Friday in ninth place. Eder was 35.9 seconds behind the Norwegian Johannes Thingnes Bö after a clear shot performance in Pokljuka, who triumphed despite a penalty round.

The Frenchman Antonin Guigonnat (+16.1 seconds) finished ten kilometres behind the Russian Alexander Loginow (16.4) in second place. Like Eder at the shooting range, the two of them made no mistakes. “I’m very happy after the hard 20s. Compared to yesterday, when I didn’t feel so good at all, it was a step forward in terms of running,” Eder summed up.

The ÖSV athlete scored only just past fourth place, Tarjei Bö was 31.2 seconds behind at the finish line. “Before me, the distances were very short. But I’m not allowed to whine, a shot in the standing position was very close. But thank God the disc fell,” said Eder.

Second best Austrian was Julian Eberhard as 15th (53,9). The 32-year-old was able to convince with the third fastest time, but had to enter the penalty round twice. “I took everything out of my body and now I have really arrived in the season. All in all it was a solid race,” the man from Salzburg analysed.

Tobias Eberhard remained flawless, but landed 18th (+1:02,7 minutes) behind his brother. Felix Leitner was also 29th in the World Cup. Dominik Landertinger did not exceed rank 57 (+1:56,1).

For the men the pursuit race is still on the program on Sunday (11.45 o’clock). The ladies will do the sprint on Saturday (14.15) and the pursuit on Sunday (14.45).
