Ski jumping: Stoch wins qualification in Trondheim – Friday fifth place

Olympic champion Kamil Stoch has won the qualification for the Ski Jumping World Cup in Trondheim. The pole, which has been dominant for weeks, flew to 140.0 m and further extended its clear lead in the overall ranking of the “Raw-Air”series. Second place went to the Norwegian Andreas Stjernen, who came with more start up to 141.5 m.

As the best German, Richard Freitag finished fifth on Friday and raised hopes for the competition on Thursday (17.00 hrs in the LIVETICKER), Andreas Wellinger (Ruhpolding) finished sixth. Also Karl Geiger (Oberstdorf/13th), Markus Eisenbichler (Siegsdorf/19th), Stephan Leyhe (Willingen/21st), Andreas Wank (Hinterzarten/22nd) and David Siegel (Baiersbronn/29th) easily passed the qualification.

In the “Raw Air”overall ranking, Stoch is clearly ahead of the Norwegians Robert Johansson (1226.7), Stjernen (1206.6) and Johann Andre Forfang (1191.6) after nine of 16 jumps with 1296.9 points. Friday (1167.8) and Wellinger (1148.4) remain in eighth and ninth place.

On Thursday, on the other hand, there were no two prominent names: World Cup record winner Gregor Schlierenzauer (Austria) and five-time World Cup winner Roman Koudelka (Czech Republic) did not make it into the top 50.

The Norway tour ends on the weekend at the “Monsterbakken” in Vikersund. The winner receives a prize of 60,000 euros.
