Cross-country skiing: Johannes Kläbo wins with record – Sandra Ringwald Elfte

Norway’s new cross-country skiing star Johannes Hösflot Kläbo (21) has set another record with his triumph at the freestyle sprint in Falun. The triple Olympic champion was the first athlete in World Cup history to win seven sprints in just one season.

Kläbo, the youngest cross-country Olympic champion in history since Pyeongchang, is also about to win the overall World Cup for the first time. His lead over defending champion and team-mate Martin Johnsrud Sundby is 272 points, with 300 points to be awarded by Sunday.

Among the women, Maiken Caspersen Falla won the small crystal ball for the best sprinter for the third time. The Norwegian finished eighth in Sweden’s Hanna Falk’s home win. The best German result of the day was achieved by Sandra Ringwald (Schonach) in eleventh place, Victoria Carl (Zella-Mehlis) had to retire in 27th place after a crash. That’s all there is to it.

The other DSV starters missed the quarter-finals of the best 30. Stefanie Böhler (Ibach/35.), Pia Fink (Bermelau/43.) and Katharina Hennig (Oberwiesenthal/69.) as well as the distance specialists Thomas Bing (Dermbach/45.), Jonas Dobler (Traunstein/76.), Lucas Bögl (Gaißlach/83.) and Florian Not failed in the qualification.
