Ski Alpin: Rebensburg Seventh in Hütter’s victory – Vonn falls down

Racer Viktoria Rebensburg did not confirm her outstanding form at the first World Cup downhill of the Olympic winter. In Lake Louise, Canada, the 28-year-old finished seventh after her victories in the first two giant slaloms of the season.

Cornelia Hütter, who celebrated her second World Cup victory in her career, was the quickest and the snowiest.

She won ahead of Tina Weirather and the surprisingly strong Mikaela Shiffrin. Rebensburg first took the lead with starting number three, but was then passed through.

Superstar Lindsey Vonn provided for anxious minutes: The American, who was on the road with top time, crashed spectacularly into the safety fences about 15 seconds before the finish line.

She had previously twisted her right knee, which had been operated on several times. After being freed from the nets, she was able to cross the finish line herself on skis.
