Alpine Skiing: Combination in St. Stephen

Bad weather caused Mikaela Shiffrin to lose her second victory in the Olympic Winter. The alpine combination in St. Moritz had to be aborted because dense fog prevented the Super-G from starting.

After the slalom Shiffrin was 0.39 seconds ahead of combination world champion Wendy Holdener (Switzerland).

The decision in the combination will now be made on Saturday. Then it’s in St. Nicholas. Moritz a regular Super-G on the program (10.45 a. m.), the result of this race will then also be included in the combined standings.

On Friday morning, the slalom had already been affected by the fog. Lena Dürr (Germering), who is already qualified for the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, did not even reach the first intermediate time.

Viktoria Rebensburg (Kreuth) had waived a start in the combination after the slalom had been brought forward and the Super-G had been postponed because of the bad visibility to the afternoon.

Like Lena Dürr, her teammates Michaela Wenig (Lenggries) and Kira Weidle (Starnberg) also wore mourning florals in memory of Max Burkhart from SC Partenkirchen, who died on Wednesday. Little occupied in the slalom rank 35, Weidle retired.
