Cross-country skiing: Fessel meets half Olympic norm, 112.

Cross-country skier Nicole Fessel was awarded a 14th place. The second place in Dobbiaco fulfilled half of the Olympic norm. The 34-year-old from Oberstdorf was still in 17th place in the pursuit race over 10 km ahead and managed for the first time in this winter the twice demanded jump under the best 16th place.

Fessel was 112. World Cup victory of the Norwegian Marit Björgen 1:28.5 minutes back, after she had lost some ground on the last kilometres. Record World Champion Björgen led a five-time victory for the outstanding Norwegian women and won the sprint ahead of Ingvild Flugstad Östberg (+0.3 seconds) and Heidi Weng (+0.8).

The overall World Cup leader Charlotte Kalla (Sweden), who had celebrated her third victory of the season in the freestyle race over 10 km on Saturday, showed weaknesses and dropped back to sixth place. The yellow jersey, however, kept Kalla.

Second-best German was Katharina Hennig (Oberwiesenthal) in 17th place, who was missing eleven seconds to half the Pyeongang standard. Victoria Carl (Zella-Mehlis) as 27. and Stefanie Böhler (Ibach) in 30th place still won World Cup points.
