Alexander Schmid (Fischen) dropped out early in the parallel world cup giant slalom in Alta Badia/Italy after an accident.

In the first round duel with Henrik Kristoffersen, the Allgäuer lost his right stick in the second run and had to admit defeat to the Norwegian with a gap of 0.17 seconds. The first round was won by the only German starter in the field of 32 players with a lead of 0.14 seconds.
